JFL B Final Winners


A fantastic result for the younger March Marlins team at the Junior Fenland League B Final in Whittlesey on Saturday. The tightly fought competition ended in a win by the Marlins with 144 points.

Great start to season for Marlins

The swimming season has started with great performances from the March Marlins team. Firstly, the younger members took part in round 5 of the Junior Fenland League competition at Newmarket last weekend resulting in 23 personal bests.

First place positions and personal best times were achieved by Henry Gooch for the 100m IM and the 50m butterfly with Jude Staton equalling the double first places for the 25m butterfly and 50m backstroke. Kiera Mavin also came first in her races, the 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke. Weronika Mikolajewska, Harry Rayner, Saule Majauskis, Theo Liversedge, Hattie Carter-Kitchingham, Katrina Dale, Hayden Courten, Jacob Lowe, Jonas Meckauskas and Una Ansome also came first in their events. Personal best times were also gained by Layla Bullman, Luke Cumbridge, Olivia Tunley, Lucy McClure, Rosetta Schaunenburg-Kent and Connor Rickard. Final points; Boston, 197, March Marlins, 174, St Neots, 118, Bottisham, 102, Chatteris, 70.

Next up, the Final of the Anglian League competition took place in Boston with a team from March Marlins participating. Resulting in a third place position out of 6 teams, the Marlins completed some fast racing with personal bests from Molly McGowen, Luke Ruggles, Chloe Cook, Hayden Courten, Una Ansome, Henry Gooch, Olivia Tunley, Rosetta Schauenburg-Kent, Graham Shaw, Jacob Cowin and Hannah Jordan. Notably, Chloe Cook gained first positions and personal best times in all her races. Also competing were Garry Mavin, Tom Hanley, Kiera Simpson, Dan Riches, Georgia Ambrose, Ciara Mason and Saule Majauskis. Head Coach, Andrew Jakeman said he was pleased with the individual swims and looks forward to further success this season.
