Marvellous Marlins Masters send records tumbling

STEPHEN Mavin (35/ 39 year age group) from March Marlins stole the show with some sensational swimming over the weekend at Ponds Forge, Sheffield competing in the British Gas Masters & Senior Age Group Long Course Championships, smashing two European records plus five British records.
The March Marlins swimmer set a new European mark of 56.28secs in the 100m butterfly in the 35-39 age group, just missing out on the world record. He was then joined by his club mates Daniel Wardley-Smith, Martyn Fresher and Garry Mavin to set a new British & European 4x100m medley relay record (4:14.76), also just shy of a world record mark.
From 6 swims, he broke one European record and five British records and at the same time smashed six East Region records. He was also took part in the 160+ years team from March that smashed the European 400m Medley Team event and a new British Record in the 200m Medley Team event. The team in full was Daniel Wardley-Smith, Martyn Fresher, Garry Mavin and the mercurial Steve Mavin.
