George Campbell is getting a makeover - Confirmed !!

18-08-2014 09:13 by Mark McGowen

Fenland District Council has confirmed that the George Campbell Leisure Centre is getting an £850,000 makeover. Thanks to Sport England a £216,690 fund from the National Lottery is being used to improve the facilities at the centre.

The gym will be modernised, a new excercise class studio and a new changing village for swimmers. The pool roof will also be replaced and a new liner added into the pool.

The gym will be increased in size to house about 50 pieces of equipment and have a large glass frontage, giving lovely views over the West End Park. It will also benefit from a high roof, further increasing the sense of space in the facility.

A new exercise class room will be added, providing a more practical space than is currently available, with a high ceiling and a lot of natural light.

The new, village-style swimming pool changing room, with individual cubicles, will enable families to change together, encouraging youngsters to swim more regularly. It too, will be airy and bright, with plenty of natural light and high ceilings.
