Marlins Molly gains Gold

March Marlins swimmers have had a busy few weeks. Firstly, Larking on the Lark at Mildenhall saw some fabulous swims with 17 personal bests achieved. Ashleigh Mason, second in 25 fly and 50 breaststroke achieving a P.B in both of them, Ewan Dickerson getting a P.B in 50 Free and 50 Breast, Luke Ruggles second in both 50 Fly and 100 I.M, Connor Rickard, p.b’s in 50 Free and 50  Back and Jacob Cowin, p.b’s in 100 Free and 100 Back as well as coming second in both of his heats.

Next up Club Champs held on the 14th of July resulted in 78 personal bests. In the boys 100 I.M event there were some amazing swims including P.B’s from Graham Shaw, Freddie Yates, Alex Tull, Jude Staton, Elliotte Ledger, Ross Wisby, Jacob Cowin, Tom Hanley, Luke Ruggels and Henry Gooch. Jude Stanton gained a further 2 p.b.s in the 50 fly and 50 free events. Theo Liversedge matched Jude with 3 p.b.s, gaining his third in the 50 breast. Jonas Meckaeskas and Ewan Dickerson also finished with p.b.s. The competitors who stood out were Graham Shaw, Jude Staton, Ross Wisby, Henry Gooch and Luke Ruggles all achieving 5 p.b’s out of 5 races.

The girls followed suit with plenty of p.b’s gained. Notably, Deanna Rayner who gained 4 p.b’s and Jessica Tull and Rebecca Jordan who achieved 3. Other competitors to swim a personal best time were Ashleigh Mason, Thea Hanley, Hattie Carter-Kitchingman, Hannah Camplin, Una Ansone, Amy Rudd, Olivia Tunley, Molly McGowen, Sophie Tunley, Ciara Mason, Jessica Shaw, Tilly Carter-Kitchingman, April-Marie Doherty, Abigail Watson, Pheobe-Rose Gardiner and Bobbi Cottam.

Lastly, 12 March Marlins participated in the ASA East Region Open Water Championships which took place in Norwich last weekend. East Region gold medals went to Joel Jordan, 3000 m, Mark Thompson, 1500m and Marie Doherty for the 1500m. Emily Morris gained a bronze medal in the 1500m.

The Cambs County gold medals were received by Joel Jordan, 3000m, Olivia Tunley, 800m, Mark Thompson, 1500m and Marie Doherty, 1500m. Molly McGowen became the youngest competitor in the region for 5000m event, deservedly gaining a gold medal. Silver went to Hannah Jordan and Rebecca Jordan for the 800m event. Rosetta Schauenberg-Kent gained a bronze medal in the 800m.
