Marlins young and old competing over busy month of April

Eight March Marlins swimmers took part in the COPS Last Chance Regional Qualifiers on the second weekend of April.
Elliotte Ledger earned an impressive five 1st places and four 2nd places. He also achieved a personal best in five of his swims, including 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle.
Georgia Ambrose gained four PB’s over the weekend, including in the 200m IM and the 200m backstroke.
Three 1st places, six 2nd places and one 3rd place were awarded to Charlotte Shaw after a successful weekend at the competition.
Saule Majauskis, Hannah Storey and Molly McGowen also competed and all earned three personal bests. Hannah Jordan also took part, swimming in the 400m freestyle event.
Jess Shaw competed as a March Marlins swimmer on the Friday evening in the 400m freestyle. She then made the journey down to Cardiff, Wales, to swim for COPS at the Arena League Final. Jess swam in two individual races and two relays. She then swam again on Sunday at the COPS Last Chance Meet, where she achieved two PB’s.
On Saturday 22nd April, March Marlins won 2nd place in round two of the Junior Fenland League at Whittlesey. The Marlins squad were only 14 points behind COPS B Team who won the gala. A total of 20 PB’s were set on the night.
Jacob Cowin, Jonas Meckauskas, Luke Cumbridge, Hattie Carter-Kitchingman and Jeremy Courten all achieved 1st places on the night.
On Sunday 23rd April, seven March Marlins Swimmers competed in the Newmarket Masters Open Meet. The team brought home 11 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 7 bronze medals.
Joel Jordan swam in four events; 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 400m freestyle. Joel won 1st place in all four of his events, and achieved one personal best.
Mark Thompson also swam in four events, resulting in three gold medals and one bronze.
Emily Morris earned a personal best in the 50m butterfly, as well as a silver medal. She also won three bronze medals in the 100m IM, 50m backstroke and the 50m freestyle.
Katie McGowen took part in six events on the day, she won 3rd place in the 50m breaststroke.
Garry Mavin took home three gold medals and gained one personal best.
Martyn Fresher swam in six events at the meet, he won one gold medal, three silver medals and two bronze medals.
Richard O’Leary swam in the 100m freestyle and the 100m IM, he got a silver medal in both events.
